Sixth-ranked Osos (11-21) gave a tough game to first ranked Piratas (21-10) in Manati on Monday. The visitors from Quebradillas managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Piratas maintains first place with 21-10 record. Osos at the other side keep the sixth position with 21 games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Osos will play at home against Leones (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Timajh Parker-rivera came up with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Cariduros in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Atleticos maintains second place with 19-12 record having just three points less than leader Quebradillas. Cariduros at the other side keep the fifth position with 20 games lost. Atleticos will play against Gigantes (#3) in Carolina in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cariduros will have a break next round.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Cangrejeros (16-16) against fourth ranked Indios (15-18) on Sunday night. Visiting Cangrejeros were defeated by Indios in a tough game in Mayaguez 85-94. Jorge Pacheco-Ortiz fired 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Angel Matias produced 19 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Cangrejeros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Indios maintains fourth place with 15-18 record which they share with defeated Cangrejeros. Loser Cangrejeros dropped to the fourth position with 16 games lost. Indios will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cangrejeros will play against the league's second-placed Mets (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 37: Humacao lost to Carolina on the opponent's court 81-90. Ponce managed to outperform Carolina in a home game 78-72. Bayamon managed to beat San German on the road 83-73.




Fajardo - San German 90-91

Fifth-ranked Cariduros (13-20) gave a tough game to second ranked Atleticos (19-12) in Fajardo. The visitors from San German managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. Gigantes outrebounded Grises 35-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Mike Scott (203-1988, college: Virginia) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. International center George Conditt IV (208-2000, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman James Ennis (201-1990, college: LBSU) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) added 15 points and 11 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes maintains third place with 16-15 record having six points less than leader Quebradillas. Grises lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 20 games lost. Gigantes will meet league's second-placed Atleticos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grises will have a break next round.
